The big wheel has arrived in Great Yarmouth and is currently under construction.

Towering over the seafront, the structure of the 108ft (33m) big wheel at the Pleasure Beach was today hoisted into place by huge crane.

Now workmen can set about putting together the light-up spokes before adding the hanging gondolas in.

Albert Jones, the owner of the Pleasure Beach, said he hoped it will be something that is supported and that visitors will enjoy the panoramic views of the town, seafront and across the North Sea itself.

A ride on the wheel is due to cost £5 for adults and £4 for children, with family discounts and OAP reductions to be announced before the grand opening.

The ride was delivered on Monday from the Elegant Wheel Company based in Weston-super-Mare.

It is hoped that the ride will be open in time for Good Friday on March 25.
