Woman spoken to following spate of plant thefts in Beccles

Police investigating reports of plants being stolen from gardens in the Beccles area have spoken to a woman in her 50s in connection with the incidents.

Officers have taken more than a dozen reports since February – including several thefts from the same property in Ingate.

The incidents include bulbs, flowers and plants stolen on several occasions from outside the home in Ingate, two incidents at a business in Blyburgate in April, two thefts in Station Road in May and flowers being take from Exchange Square between April 17 and May 8.

Officer have spoken to the woman, who is known to be vulnerable, and will be dealing with the matters appropriately.

It's known that there have been calls on social media for the thief to be 'named and shamed' however, due to the circumstances, police will be working with other agencies to provide support in a bid to prevent any further incidents.
