Police rescue woman from freezing sea at Hunstanton

Police went into the sea to rescue a woman from the water.
The drama happened at Hunstanton Prom, at around 5pm on Tuesday.
Justin Smith said on Facebook: “I was watching this incident, two brave police officers went into the water in uniform to rescue the woman, an ambulance response car then arrived with two paramedics on, and the police and paramedics treated the woman.”
Norfolk police said: “Police were called shortly before 5pm yesterday following reports a woman had entered the sea at Hunstanton. Two officers attended and entered the water and brought the woman to safety. The woman, aged in her 30s, was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.”
Hunstanton coastguard tweeted: “Paged by Humber for person in the water opposite the Waterside bar on Hunstanton prom, casualty was extracted from the water and handed in to the care of the ambulance service and police.”
Staff at the Waterside said they saw the woman sitting on a groyne before the incident.
Today, the Promenade, groynes and parts of the beach were covered with snow at low tide.
