Detectives in Suffolk have launched a rape investigation after a woman reported that she had been attacked by a burglar.

Officers were called to a home in Lakenheath at about 5.30am on Wednesday after two people entered the property, searched it and stole money.

The victim, a woman in her 60s, has subsequently claimed that she was raped by one of the intruders.

The offender is described as male, about 40 years old, of big build, about 6ft tall with a round face, large ears and dark hair.

Specially trained officers from Suffolk Police are working closely with the victim to try and establish exactly what happened during the incident and offer her support.
