A Thetford woman was targeted by a bag snatcher on her own driveway.

Stephanie Woodger said she feared other townsfolk could be attacked by her attacker after she was robbed of her handbag on returning home on Wednesday evening .

Police are appealing for information following the incident between 6.20pm and 6.30pm at 52 Fairfields, Thetford.

The 55 year old victim had just returned home from work in Bury St Edmunds when she was approached by a young man, who had been standing in a neighbour's driveway.

The offender told Mrs Woodger that he was looking for number 36 before snatching her handbag, running off and getting into a waiting dark coloured Ford Focus style car.

Mrs Woodger said she was left “scared” by the incident and was worried that the offender would target other vulnerable people in the town.

“It happened so quickly and was planned because the car was revving up waiting for him to jump in and it could easily happen to someone else.”

“You would be prepared for it if you were walking somewhere in the dark, through an underpass, or on Croxton Road, but to happen in your own drive is evading your space. I am absolutely petrified now,” she said.

The offender is described as white, aged approximately 18, clean shaven with a pale complexion. He was of slim build and wore a cream coloured fleece top and dark trousers. The handbag contained £90 cash, credit cards, and other personal items.
