Woman dies after fall in Fakenham town centre

A 71-year-old woman died in the early hours of this morning after suffering head injuries from a fall in Fakenham town centre.

Val Pilgrim, from Pudding Norton, died at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where she had been treated since the fall, just before 11am on Wednesday.

She banged her head on a windowsill at the front of Norwich and Peterborough Building Society and was treated at the scene for more than an hour before being taken to Addenbrooke's in an air ambulance.

Mrs Pilgrim regularly attended Fakenham Baptist Church, Fakenham Parish Church and Tittleshall Methodist Church.

Rector of Fakenham, Rev Adrian Bell said: 'She was a lovely Christian lady and she will be missed by many people.

'She was a very caring person, she was very energetic and she looked much younger than she was. This is a sad way for her to die.'
