The winners of a raffle held to raise money for a new community banner in Wells have been announced, along with details of the thousands of pounds raised for the cause.
The Wells Maltings Trust, the organisers behind the Beach Hut Quilt Raffle, announced the winners as Leigh Lightfoot in first place, Guy Townsend in second and Rachel Conway in third.
They added that the raffle had managed to raise just under £3,000 which will go towards the creation of a community tapestry banner which will celebrate the landscape of Wells and be displayed in the Wells Maltings building when it opens.
The beach hut quilt is to be part of the tapestry and the Trust described it as 'outstanding' and said it tells a story of community strength. It was designed by Wells' residents Margaret Kennedy and Dierdre Amsden who also assembled 60 quilt kits for contributors to knit the squares.
