The Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service was called to Wicklewood Primary School and Nursery at 11.45am when the year one classroom flooded.

Head teacher Julia Brooks said: 'With all the snow melting and subsequent rain, and the really high water table in the area, the water in our classroom was more than wellie boot high.

'We do have an issue with water at our school, but it's never been this bad.'

Miss Brooks said the fire service spent over an hour pumping the water out of the school grounds, and engaging with the pupils.

She said: 'The children watched from a distance and absolutely loved it.

'It was a fantastic act of goodwill, and the way they worked with the children was wonderful.

'After the snow last week, little did I realise there was more excitement to come.'
