A plane has been spotted flying over a Norfolk village being escorted by two other planes.

The planes were spotted flying over Sporle, near Swaffham, at around 3.30pm on Thursday, December 14.

The spotted planes left residents baffled after no indication of the escorted flight was given.

Theories have speculated that it could have be a Royal flight after the Grenfell Tower service in London or a RAF Voyager Tanker refueling RAF Typhoon fighters.

According to flight tracker application, Plane Finder, the plane was flying from Athens, Greece, to RAF Brize Norton, near Oxford.

Plane Finder identifies the larger plane in the picture as an RAF Airbus. According to the flight map the plane flew over Norfolk to Scarborough before heading back down the country to land at RAF Brize Norton.

Sporle is located just 12 miles away from Norfolk air base RAF Marham.
