It's ten years today since the first tweet was sent. Here are ten of Norfolk's most powerful tweeters:

Since founder Jack Dorsey's famous first tweet, 'just setting up my twttr', the micro-blogging platform has grown in strength and style, with 1.3 billion accounts being registered and roughly 100 million users online each day.

The 140 character posts are sent out from all over the world and Norfolk has a range of influential users. We've compiled a list of some of the most prominent in the county.

• Graham Linehan @Glinner

Graham Linehan is a comedy writer and director known for his work on sitcoms such as Father Ted and the IT Crowd. Linehan currently has an audience of 605,000 on Twitter and often utilises this following to highlight issues of importance to him, such as abortion laws in Ireland and his political views. He was also the first of our list to join Twitter, creating his account in 2007, just one year after it was founded.

• Adam Buxton @AdamBuxton

Comedian, writer and actor Adam Buxton, who lives in Norwich, uses his account to, much like his career, entertain others. By sharing his work, his thoughts and general things that he thinks the public will be interested in, he has gained 190,000 followers on Twitter.

• Stuart Ashen @ashens

Ashen is influential across a variety of social media platforms, with over one million subscribers to his YouTube channel and 81,800 followers on Twitter. The Internet clearly approves of this comedian's humour.

• Darren Huckerby @hucks6dh6

NCFC legend Darren Huckerby joined Twitter in August 2010 and since then has accumulated 84,100 followers for his mainly football themed tweets.

• Grant Holt @GrantHolt31

Norwich City legend Grant Holt also uses this social media platform to talk about his love of the game, but it may also be his loving tweets about his family and the charitable causes he supports that have given him an audience of 73,700 on the social media platform.

• Helen Anderson @HelenAnderz

Member of the 'beach pop' band Box of Light, Anderson is a singer and blogger. Her social media posts cover a wide range of topics, from fashion and beauty to travel and lifestyle and have earned her an incredible 46,000 followers on Twitter.

• Jake Humphrey @mrjakehumphrey

Television broadcaster Jake Humphrey began his career presenting popular CBBC shows such as 'Bamzooki' and 'Newsround' but has since moved on to forge a successful path in sports coverage. The current face of Premier League Football on BT sport and an avid Norwich City fan, it's no wonder he has a staggering 821,000 followers on Twitter and hundreds of retweets and likes on each of his posts.

• Norman Lamb @normanlamb

The Liberal Democrat MP for North Norfolk has 25,100 followers and uses his Twitter to discuss important issues arising in North Norfolk and to connect with his constituents.

• Carly Rowena @carlyrowena

Norwich based personal trainer and fitness blogger Carly Rowena has cultivated a successful account on social media with which she shares advice on fitness and healthy eating with her 23,200 followers. When asked about her progress on Twitter and whether she felt any pressure in having a large following, she said 'I don't feel my followers put pressure on me, I do however feel that I put pressure on myself, I always have to take time to remind myself that life is not an emergency.' With regards to her social media strategy, Carly revealed that she simply tries 'not to share negativity as it only attracts negative followers' and offers this helpful advice to Twitter users, 'interact with people who inspire, challenge or interest you and strike up conversations.'

• Elizabeth Truss @trussliz

South West Norfolk Conservative MP Elizabeth Truss currently has 22,000 followers on Twitter who she updates almost daily about her work and beliefs.

• Other notable users include Norwich born YouTube stars Tanya Burr and Jim Chapman, both of whom have over one million followers each. Stephen Fry was also a large presence over the Twitter landscape, before deactivating his account earlier this year, following backlash after the Baftas. He claimed that Twitter was no longer the place it had once been and the 'fun is over'.
