The EDP and Evening News is bringing an ice skating rink to the centre of Norwich this winter. Here's all you need to know about it:

•Where is it?

The Norwich Ice Rink is located in the Castle Mall Gardens, Norwich, NR1 3DD.

•When is it open?

We are open every day from 6 December until 2 January apart from Christmas Day. Session start on the hour beginning at 10am. The last session of the day starts at 8pm.

•What else is happening besides skating?

Alongside the glistening Norwich Ice Rink there will be an array of Christmas activities to get you in the festive mood - whether it's a royal visit from your favourite Princesses Anna and Elsa or a special meet and greet with Santa's reindeer. •Is there a spectator area?

There is a viewing platform for spectators which can be accessed free of charge.

•Is it all–weather?

The Norwich Ice Rink is covered and will be in operation in most weather conditions, however in extreme weather conditions there may be times when we need to close the rink for safety reasons.

We therefore urge you to dress appropriately. Wrap up warm with hats and gloves. Long skirts and long coats should not be worn on the ice rink for your own safety.

•How long will an ice skating session last?

Skating sessions last for 45 minutes with a further 15 minutes designated for shoe change. Please arrive at the Norwich Ice Rink at least 15 minutes before your desired session to allow ample time to change shoes and get on the ice.

•Can I bring my own skates?

Skate hire is included in the price of the tickets – however, if you prefer to bring your own skates then you are welcome to do so. There is not reduction in price if you bring your own skates.

•I am not an experienced skater – will there be help on hand?

Our Ice Skate Marshalls are available at all time to monitor and encourage safe skating and will assist where possible, however we do not provide tuition and the Ice Skate Marshalls priority will be the safety of all users of the Norwich Ice Rink.

•We have polar bear skate aids available for young children. The skate aids are available on a first come first serve basis and cannot be booked in advance. We advise those who wish to use a polar bear skate aid to arrive early to secure one. (PLEASE NOTE – we cannot guarantee the availability of the skate aids as there are only limited numbers available.)

•Are there any age restrictions at the Norwich Ice Rink?

The minimum age from skating on the ice rink is 4 years old. Skaters aged between 4 – 12 years must be accompanied by an adult (18+) on the ice. A ratio of 1 adult to 2 children will be accepted.

You can skate on the Norwich Ice Rink up to any age but please be aware of the health risks. Skating is not recommended for anyone with serious illness, heart conditions. Skating is also not recommended for pregnant ladies.

•Is there anywhere to store my belongings whilst on the Norwich Ice Rink?

There are limited lockers will be available for you to store your belongings on a first come first served basis. Lockers are £1 each and are non-refundable. NB £1 coin is required. All items are left at your own risk and Norwich Ice Rink does not take responsibility for any lost or stolen items.

•Are there toilets at the Norwich Ice Rink?

Norwich Ice Rink attendees can use the toilets in the nearby Castle Mall.

•Is there wheelchair access?

The site and viewing platform are both wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs users wishing to skate are encouraged to attend off-peak sessions (Monday to Friday 10.00am to 5.15pm and weekends before 12.15pm) when the rink is quieter. Please note: Wheelchair users must be accompanied on the ice by a competent skater who may skate free of charge.

•Do you cater for parties and events?

We would love for you to hold your event at the Norwich Ice Rink and discounts will be available for private parties and events. For more details and to organise your winter event please contact icerink@archant.co.uk.

•Is there somewhere to purchase food and drink at the Norwich Ice Rink?

Hot and cold drinks will be available at the Norwich Ice Rink along with seasonal snacks such as mince pies and gingerbread men. Hot food including bratwursts and warming pie and mash will only be available at certain times. Please see our 'What's on section' for more details.

•Can I park at the Norwich Ice Rink?

You cannot park directly at the Norwich Ice Rink but parking is available close by. Please see our Find us page for details of car parks near to the Norwich Ice Rink.
