Architectural excellence and craftsmanship will once again be celebrated at the mayor's annual design awards in west Norfolk.

The awards, now in their 18th year, focus on small-scale works by local architects, designers and contractors.

And nominations are being sought for entries which highlight the role good design plays in making the community an attractive place to live and visit. These may include everything from skilful conversions to sympathetic new builds and innovative commercial architecture.

West Norfolk Mayor Colin Manning said: “Earlier this year, as deputy mayor, I had the great pleasure and honour of presenting the Mayor’s Design Awards for 2014-2015.

“Having travelled around our borough I was fully aware of the vision and skills of our designers, architects and builders because of the many magnificent buildings I have seen. But the winning entries I saw that evening impressed me immensely.

“The fact that we have such highly talented people submitting designs to create attractive houses and buildings in the borough contributes so much to making west Norfolk such a desirable place.

“I am certain this year we will again receive an incredibly high standard of entries. So please do nominate and encourage others to nominate schemes that are innovative and attractive and that enhance our locale. Let us rightly reward the people responsible for these wonderful designs.”

All nominations will be assessed by the mayor and a panel of judges, who will be looking for schemes which bring pleasure through design, workmanship or their contribution to a particular setting.
