Live music, fairground rides, ferret racing and a dog and duck show are just some of the attractions on offer at this year's North Norfolk Country Fair, which runs at Weybourne, near Holt, on May 27.

Now in its eleventh year, the event regularly attracts up to 3,000 people, raising thousands for Weybourne Community Fund.

Set up more than 20 years ago, the charity, which also hosts an annual family fun day, has raised more than £100,000 for local good causes.

Past beneficiaries have ranged from Weybourne bowls, table tennis and Good Companions clubs, to the village hall, All Saints Church and Weybourne Horticultural Society.

The fund also hosts an annual Christmas lunch for local elderly people and pays for children's activities including regular Messy Church sessions, an Easter egg hunt and a Christmas party.

Community Fund secretary Karen White-Robinson, who has been a committee member of the charity for more than 15 years, said the country fair aimed to provide fun for all the family in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

'I think the reason the event is so popular is that it is so varied, there is lots to keep people on the field all day and we don't charge too much, which I think is really important,' she added.

As well as regular events ranging from a car boot sale and craft stalls, to a dog show and a classic car display, new attractions this year will include a bird of prey flying demonstration by Norfolk Wild Encounters, a climbing wall brought along by North East Norfolk District Scouts, music from Cromer and Sheringham Brass Band and Blakeney-based group the Old Wild Rovers and a display by 'dog whisperer' Stuart Barnes.

Based in Yorkshire, Mr Barnes has taken his dog and duck show - featuring a duck-herding sheepdog - all over the country and abroad, also writing books on dog training and behaviour.

'We have also got some new arena acts and more local produce and food and drink stalls than ever before,' Mrs White-Robinson said. 'We want to encourage as many people as possible to come along and give them a good value for money and a nice day out for all the family.'

North Norfolk Country Fair runs at the George Weston community field, Weybourne, on Sunday, May 27 from 10am-4pm. Admission is £4 (Under 15s free).
