JD Wetherspoon says it has no plans to open a pub in Hunstanton.

The chain has been rumoured around the town to be buying the former NatWest branch, on Northgate, which closed in June.

Its website says: “We consider pubs, bars, restaurants, hotels, churches, banks, cinemas, theatres, bingo halls, retail units.”

But today a spokesman said it was not purchasing the property.

Agent GVA, which is marketing the former bank for £350,000, describes it as “a period building in a prominent corner position”.

It also says the building would “lend itself to residential conversion”.
