A flood alert has been issued due to rising water levels in the Ouse Washes.

It is feared the wetland could spill over the causeways, resulting in traffic disruption.

Welney in the Fens, and Earith and Sutton Gault in Cambridgeshire are believed to be most at risk.

Currently, the causeway in the latter village is submerged in around 8 centimetres of water. The uneven surface of the road means that the water could be deeper in some places.

Water is expected to spill on to the road over night in Welney but there are no problems as of yet in Earith.

The Environment Agency are continuing to monitor the situation and are advising people not to walk or drive through flood water.
