IAN CLARKE

Police and firefighters were called to a flat in Wells after a man doused an area in fuel and threatened to start a blaze.

A 999 call was made just before midnight on Friday to what was described as “a neighbour dispute” at Northfield Way

Local people reported an “extremely drunk man” had doused the garden and windows of a ground floor flat and had been banging on windows and had a lighter in his hand.

Police said at about 12.20am a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

Wells firefighters had been at the scene as a precaution but no fire was started and they made the site safe.
