Pupils at a Norwich junior school have landed another day on holiday after heavy snow saw coaches due to bring them home cancelled.

Year four youngsters at Wensum Junior School were on a two-night residential trip to Holt Hall, and were due to come back on Wednesday morning.

But with heavy snowfall across much of Norfolk, provider Norse cancelled its coaches, meaning the children are now staying another night at the hall.

Posting on Facebook, headteacher Victoria McConnell said: “All children are having an amazing time in the very beautiful Holt Hall.

“They are warm, well-fed and enjoying the weather.”

In a later post, she said: “The Met Office have lowered the weather warning tomorrow so it is no longer orange. We are hoping to get the children home safely in the morning. We will keep you posted on their ETA.”

She said Holt Hall had been “wonderful” and accommodating, and that children’s safety was the main priority.

Holt Hall is run by Educator Solutions, a Norfolk county Council trading enterprise.
