Flood warnings in place as Norfolk expected to be hit with heavy rain and thunderstorms

Saturday, June 2 is set to be a washout with a warning in place for heavy rain across the county and a risk of flooding.

The warning is in place from 6am on Saturday until 8pm.

A spokesman for The Met Office said: 'There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

'Where flooding occurs there is a chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.'

They added: 'Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. There is also a small chance that either flooding or lightning strikes could lead to power cuts or loss of other services to some homes and businesses.'

Norwich-based Weatherquest predicted that things would settle down and brighten by Sunday.

Forecaster Richard Jones said: 'On Sunday things will settle down and we'll see somewhat more sunshine, with maximum temperatures in-land around 19C to 20C, with things being a little cooler on the coast.

'It will be a mainly dry day, with a small chance of isolated showers in the afternoon. The following week will also start off quite dry and settled, with some chances of mist and fog in the mornings.'
