Trains on the Norwich to Lowestoft route, via Reedham, have been suspended until further notice because of damage at Haddiscoe and Lowestoft.

The Norwich to Great Yarmouth train service is running normally.

A train service between Ipswich and Beccles, via Saxmundham, is now running, with a limited rail replacement bus service, operated by Reynolds Coaches, running between Beccles, Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth (for onward travel to Norwich).

First Norfolk Buses will also pass valid Greater Anglia ticket holders, on bus routes X1 and X2, which serve routes Norwich to Great Yarmouth/Lowestoft.

First Suffolk Buses are accepting valid tickets between Ipswich, Woodbridge and Saxmundham (Routes 64/65) and from Ipswich station to the town centre (route 66) to connect. Also between Ipswich and Felixstowe (routes 75/76/77)

Customers are advised not to travel on the suspended rural routes if at all possible.

Train services on all other Greater Anglia routes are running to a normal timetable with no major delays reported.

Full details of any cancelled and altered trains can be found on Great Anglia's JourneyCheck page.

Customers with advance purchase tickets dated for December 5-7 can use their tickets up to Monday, December 9.

Customers planning to travel today are advised to check before setting out.

In a statement, Great Anglia said: 'Train services on the route between London Liverpool Street and Colchester, Clacton / Walton, Ipswich and Norwich, and also at Cambridge were severely disrupted yesterday because of fallen trees damaging the overhead power lines near Colchester, Diss, Weeley and Cambridge. Some of the worst flooding seen in the eastern region for several years has also affected the coastal branch lines resulting from the storm surge and subsequent high tides and rising river levels.

'Network Rail engineers worked in difficult conditions during the evening and overnight to repair the overhead cables and restore services as quickly as possible. We are continuing to monitor the Norwich to Lowestoft and Ipswich to Lowestoft lines where services remain suspended and assessing the extent of the repairs that will be necessary to restore services when the flooding has receded. All other routes are now open.

'The severity of the weather and flooding also made it difficult to provide alternative transport in some areas and we're sorry for the problems this has also caused.

'We made every effort overnight to fully restore train services as quickly as possible but some delays and disruption to services have continued during this morning. We are grateful to our customers for your patience and continued understanding while our colleagues and engineers have been working to resolve these problems.

'We recognise the frustration and inconvenience to your journeys caused by the storms and flooding, and regular service updates will continue via the Greater Anglia website and social media.'
