Hundreds of households are without power in Norfolk as freezing temperatures and snow continue to hit the county.

As of 2pm nearly 700 homes were without electricity in Norfolk with homes affected in Scarning, West Lexham, Ingham and Roughton.

Earlier there had been reports of cuts at various locations across the county including at Buxton, North Walsham and Great Yarmouth.

At statement on the UK Power Networks said: “We’re preparing for the forecast of snow and freezing temperatures and are in regular contact with the Met Office as the forecast develops. View latest forecast from the Met Office.

“Our electricity network is built to be resilient but extreme weather can affect underground and overhead power lines. Our emergency plans have been put in to place, with extra engineers and other staff on duty to deal with situations as and when they arise.”

Power has since been restored to many of the households, however problems are still being experienced by residents in NR19 2 and NR29 3.
