The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for high water between 6am and 8am on Friday.

'The forecast is for strong winds,' it says. 'There could be large waves with sea spray at the seafront.

'Conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. We are expecting wind blown spray at Hunstanton promenade and along the coast.

'Locations most at risk are Hunstanton, Heacham, and Snettisham. The local authority are closing the flood gates at Hunstanton which will make access difficult. People are advised to stay away from risk areas and take care next to the coast.'

Flood gates close off the reort's low-lying South Beach Road. The latest flood alert comes days before one of the highest tides of the year, which is expected on Sunday morning.
