Norfolk coal distributors have been struggling to deliver important fuel to homes.

Kevin Lansdale of coal merchant V.M. Thrower was out delivering from 4.30am till 6pm yesterday to around 50 customers from North Walsham to Ranworth.

Sarah Lansdale, his wife, said: “He’s been in the business 42 years, and now he does it all on his own.

“On the country roads he’s had to get out and dig himself through.

“We’ve had a lot of people phoning in to say thank you.”

East Anglian fuel delivery service Dodd Fuels has been unable to deliver beyond their local Shipdham and Dereham as their lorries are unable to get on the roads.

“Manager Peter Dodd said: “It’s just not safe at the moment.

“We’ve now got two days to catch up on so we’re trying to work at the weekend.”

Norwich Camping and Leisure however has had customers flock to buy fuel and sledges.
