The region's roads were thick with snow, slush and ice on Wednesday morning, as the so-called Beast from the East returned.

Norfolk police tweeted at 6am to say the A11 northbound at Wymondham was blocked because of HGVs stuck in the road.

And just moments later they tweeted to say the A143 at Haddiscoe was blocked in both directions, after cars became stuck in the road.

Just before 6.45am, they said the A47 by the B1108 junction near Colney, the eastbound carriageway, was partially blocked due to a jack-knifed lorry.

At 9am Norfolk police said the A11 (Thetford to Norwich) was blocked, as well as the A47 (eastbound and westbound, particularly around Norwich), and A140 (both directions in and out of Norwich).

Also on the A47 at the B1108 junction, Great Yarmouth bound, lorries and vans were stuck trying to drive up the slip road.
