Fundraisers across Norfolk are gearing up to do something funny for money ahead of Red Nose Day tomorrow. And despite clocking up 25 years this year, there's been no shortage of new and creative ways for people to raise money for those less fortunate.

The campaign culminates with an evening of TV fun on BBC One from 7pm tomorrow night – but before then schools, businesses and individuals will make sure that things go off with a bang in Norfolk and Suffolk.

In Norwich, sixth-form student Raphael Barnett-Ward and 20 hardy team-mates had to clear snow from the pitch before they even kicked off their 12-hour football match at the weekend.

Just four players battled through to the end as the match finished with the scoreboard reading 125-99, and raised £1,644.

The 17-year-old said: 'We were expecting to raise around £1,000 but we got a lot more sponsorship that we thought.'

Students at City College Norwich have also been busy organising an online auction.

The lots available including dinner for two in the student-run Debut restaurant, a tour of BBC studios and the chance to sit in on a show. The auction closes tomorrow and is at www.ccn.ac.uk/products

Wymondham College students will celebrate Comic Relief Harlem Shake-style as they look to set a world record for the most people performing the viral hit dance, as well as holding a non-uniform day.

In Great Yarmouth, young Peter Guymer from Belton has set the bar high for Red Nose Day fundraisers in and around the town.

The eight-year-old, who has Asperger's, had his head shaved for Comic Relief yesterday at Mad Cutz in Belton, raising more than £200.

Mum Sophia said the Moreland Primary School pupil had wanted to 'go bald' for some time but when he heard about pop star Jessie J's Red Nose headshave, decided to do it for charity.

'He's really been getting into the fundraising and watching all the money come in,' said Mrs Guymer.

'He's also been finding out how the money will be spent on to helping other people.'

In Lowestoft, between 10am and 2.30pm at The Bethel in Battery Green Road, home of The Lowestoft Players, a Comic Relief event will include zumba sessions and a Harlem Shake warm-up.

Elsewhere, staff at Lowestoft Library will be joining in the fun, with Comic Relief taking place activities at the library during Red Nose Day.

Staff at Oulton Park Care Centre on Union Road, Oulton Broad will be doing a bushtucker trial as they eat unappetising looking food such as fish eyes, octopus and bugs.

Meanwhile in north Norfolk, a group of friends will be dressing up as Oompa Loompas for the worthy cause. The five people will be doing a bucket collection around North Walsham on tomorrow afternoon and then Cromer and Aylsham on Saturday.

Children at Millfield Primary School in North Walsham will be dressing up tomorrow to raise money. Staff at Sainsbury's supermarket in the town will also be dressing up tomorrow, and will be taking part in activities including guess the weight of the hot cross bun and a Malteser challenge.
