It will take place on Mondays at the town hall, thanks to a six-month rent-free agreement with Aylsham Town Council.

The youth cafe is aimed to provide information not just on alcohol and substance misuse, but also careers, mental health, and personal problems.

Community support worker Mike Clemo, said he hoped to have the project up-and-running by April, after the school Easter holidays.

And after speaking to youngsters in Aylsham to find out what they wanted, he said: 'There's certainly a need for it. We are on the verge of delivering something the young people really want.'

Town council chairman Mathew Martin said the council wanted to make sure there was something for the youth in its town.

He added: 'It seems to be a wonderful opportunity to have something the council wishes to support.

'I think it is something that Aylsham needs. If we can bring the youth together, the town hall is a wonderful place for them to meet.

The £20,000 project has funding for two years.

It has been commissioned by Broadland Youth Advisory Board and is being run by Momentum, a Norfolk charity which supports work with young people.

The time of the cafe will be released closer to its opening date. The project is seeking volunteers.
