A Wayland Academy pupil got an insight into the world of work after completing work experience at Thetford-based GlassGuard.

Rosie Payne has ambitions to set up her own business when she finishes school and jumped at the opportunity to spend her work placement module with the firm.

GlassGuard not only gave her an insight into what employment is like but also showed her the working structure of an organisation and how a business operates. During her two weeks at the company, she experienced all aspects of the business, from receiving and processing sales orders through to the manufacturing process and dispatching orders.

She added: 'I really enjoyed my experience. I spent some time in the factory and the offices and I learnt the different aspects of each role and the importance of communication between departments to get objectives finished. I am more determined now to set up my own business when I finish school.'

Michael Graham-Cloete, one of the directors at GlassGuard, added: 'It was a pleasure having Rosie with us. As a local employer, we are always keen to support the community. Rosie will be taking away valuable knowledge and experience which I am sure she will put to good use.'
