Watton Town Council wants to recruit volunteers to improve the Jubilee Garden which opened in 2016 after a four year wait. It had originally been named to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee in 2012 but it never opened.

It was not until a three-month campaign from councillors the garden, in Thetford Road, finally opened.

But now the council is looking at a management scheme and possible volunteer roles in an attempt to improve the up-keep.

At the full council meeting on July 23 it was decided that a visit would be made to the garden and the issue would be discussed at the next meeting.

The land for the garden, used as an auctioneer's sale yard in the 1940s, was gifted to the town council several years ago by its owner Mary Jane Toulson.

When it was opened 12 rose bushes were planted.
