A goat called Elvis, who was left all shook up after his mother abandoned him, has now found television fame by acting like a hound dog.

Elvis, a Boer goat from Maisebrooke Farm near Beccles, was rejected by his mother so instead, Jo Lay loved him tender, hand rearing him from a kid.

Their bond became so strong that Mrs Lay was able to train him to perform the same agility courses as dogs and can even compete against them.

His talent landed he and his owner a slot on ITV programme 'Teach My Pet To Do That', where he showed he too can live a dog's life.

Mrs Lay, 35, said: 'My father-in-law was contacted by a production company regarding the show, so we auditioned Elvis and they absolutely loved him.

'When I began teaching him, it was definitely hard work, as he had the attention span of a gnat.

'However we carried on trying and he soon got much better and I think that's a testament to how strong our bond is.'

Elvis, who is now two-years-old, was a relatively large kid, meaning he was too big to be fed by his mother, so Mrs Lay fed him by bottle.

For a while he even lived inside the house, enjoying a sit on the sofa, but now prefers life in the field with the other goats and sheep.

Mrs Lay is now hoping to add to Elvis's skill set, attempting to teach him to pull a cart, as well as potentially taking his performances on the road.

She said: 'It has been a while since we filmed the show - it was at the start of the year - but I still think he would be able to manage it.

'Hopefully, in future I will be able to take him to lots of shows and fetes and really show off some goat agility.'

After his television performance, which was broadcast on Friday, September 22, Elvis will get his second taste of the limelight, at the farm's annual food festival.

Elvis will be one of the star attractions at the event, as he prepares to meet his adoring public.

He will be available for visitors to meet in his pen, as well as being taken around during the festival.

The Maisebrook Farm Food and Drink Fair takes place on Sunday, October 1, from 10am until 4pm.

Elvis's episode of Teach My Pet To Do That can be watched on the ITV Hub and catch-up television.
