Wanted man arrested for allegedly assaulting police officer in Dereham

A wanted man was arrested in Norwich last night in connection with an incident that took place in Dereham on Wednesday, March 8.

Jonathan Cawdron, 45, who is from Norwich, has been charged with assaulting and obstructing a police officer.

His arrest comes after he fled the scene of an incident on Norwich Road in Dereham when officers responded to reports of a man drink-driving in a blue Volkswagen Polo.

Three men known to police were inside the vehicle and attempted to flee.

Two of them were arrested but a third assaulted an officer by kicking him in the groin and head and fled.

A wanted notice was Mr Cardron was circulated yesterday by police and he was subsequently arrested in Norwich just before 7pm.

He has been released on bail to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on Friday April 21.
