A team from the Angel Inn in Wangford will be taking to the skies to raise funds for charity.

Landlords Peter and Christine White and staff Joni Harvey, James Cyprus, Beth Casbott and Steve Westwood are completing tandem sky dives in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The team, who appeared on Channel 4's Four in a Bed recently, will be taking the plunge from UK parachuting in Beccles.

They have raised about £2,000 for the good cause already through sponsorship and by each donating the equivalent of two hours wages.

They hope to boost funds further by holding a coffee morning next Friday at the Angel Inn from 10am to 12.30pm as part of Macmillan's World's Biggest Coffee Morning campaign.

Mrs White said: 'We have never sky dived before. I am terrified but I am focusing on the gorgeous man I am going to be strapped to.

'We chose to support Macmillan because cancer touches everybody's life. You might be affected by cancer yourself or someone close to you could be affected.

'More than that we are fund raising specifically for cancer support because it helps people actually at the time when they need it. Macmillan nurses are there when you need them.

'We are very selective about the charities we support and we go for organisations that do things right now, like Macmillan or the Salvation Army.'

The team, including Mrs White, 60, and Mr White, 71, will be completing their jumps later than expected in October after experiencing a number of unexpected delays.

Mrs White said a number of pub customers had also expressed an interest in going along to witness the jumps.

She added: 'We wanted to do something a bit different and a bit more attention grabbing than a bike ride or a sponsored walk.

'It is something that is quite exciting to do as well as a life experience for all of us so it is win-win.'

Donations of cakes and biscuits are being sought to sell at the coffee morning next Friday.

To sponsor any of the team, contact the Angel Inn on 01502 578636, email info@angelinnwangford.co.uk or call in to the pub in High Street to make a donation.
