People are being urged to vote for their sporting heroes, role models and inspirations.

For the sixth year running, the cream of sporting achievement and service will again be honoured this autumn with the BBC Radio Norfolk & Active Norfolk Sports Awards.

It has been an epic year of sport and bosses at Active Norfolk want to capture the excitement generated by the Olympic and Paralympic Games and all the activities that have been happening locally over the past 12 months.

There are 10 categories for nominations: sports personality of the year, young sports personality of the year, inspirational sports personality of the year, BBC unsung hero, community coach of the year, sporting school of the year, community club of the year, sporting village of the year, sporting business of the year and Active Norfolk winner of winners (judged by the panel from all finalists).

The final award, the Active Norfolk Winner of Winners, will be chosen from the successful candidates in the other categories.

There will be a winner for each category, all of which will be announced at a special, invitation only, awards evening to be held at The Curve at the Forum in Norwich on Wednesday, November 7.
