Generous shoppers have donated hundreds of pounds in just one month to a long-running Norfolk charity which supports blind and visually-impaired people.

Volunteers from the Norfolk and Norwich Association for the Blind (NNAB) raised just over £2,000 from bucket collections in nine stores across Norwich, Poringland, Drayton, Aylsham and Great Yarmouth during February.

Donna Minto, NNAB community fundraiser, said: 'We still cannot believe how generous the public are being considering how tight the public purse strings are.

'Out of every £1 donated to the NNAB, 91 pence goes towards our members. That helps with the activities we provide for them which helps with their mental health and keeps them active and independent.'

The NNAB is based at Magpie Road in Norwich and helps adults and children across the county.

It relies purely on fundraising and has 270 volunteers.
