The 1st Wymondham Scout Group has made a plea for more adult volunteers to come forward.

The group has a long waiting list of local boys and girls and its number of leaders will reduce at the end of the month when the leader of the Friday night Beaver group steps down.

Robert Long, Group Scout Leader of the 1st Wymondham Scouts, said no experience was necessary for volunteer helpers.

'We are in real need of some more adult volunteers. A large number of boys and girls from Wymondham and the surrounding area attend weekly Beaver, Cub and Scout meetings. There are many more on our waiting lists but we can't offer them a place at the moment as we don't have enough leaders to run the groups.'

'You don't need any special skills to be a leader. Enthusiasm, a willingness to try new things and an interest in helping young people to discover new things is all that is required,' he said.
