A CANDLE-LIT vigil raised awareness of national road victims month when people gathered in Wisbech Market Place.
Bridget Wall, whose only son died in November 2002, organised the event to mark the launch of a new petition calling for a roundabout to be installed at the A47 Broadend crossroads junction where her son died.
Taking part were family and friends, including those of Jamie Butcher, who was killed when he was hit by a speeding driver in Wisbech in 2011.
Rev Allan Landall, of All Saints Church, Walsoken, led the service, which was attended by Wisbech Mayor Samantha Hoy.
Across the country vigils have been taking place throughout August after a national campaign group encouraged victims families to arrange local events.
Mrs Wall, of Downham Market, and MP Steve Barclay want the Highways Agency to spend £170,000 set aside for new signs and lines at the junction to instead go towards the building of a roundabout.
