A bizarre scene greeted people visiting Downham Market on Saturday when a group of dancers spontaneously burst into a dance routine.
Shoppers walking through Wales Court looked bemused as the 10-strong group, made up of dancers from the Zumba fitness club at the town's leisure centre, took part in a 'flash mob' close to the Town Hall.
The group, led by Zumba instructor Kris Guffa, had asked Downham Market Town Council for permission before Saturday's performance.
Ms Guffa said: 'Mainly I wanted to do this performance to draw attention to a charity zumbathon on Saturday, June 9.
As for the flash mob, all people involved are participants from various Zumba Fitness or Zumbatomic classes that I currently teach.
The flash mob was a last minute approval by the Town Council. With only a week notice, I was completely blown away with the number of volunteers.
'It was such an amazing event and the enthusiasm that has been created from a five minute public performance has had a lasting affect on those involved.'
Zumba is a Latin dance-inspired fitness program created by dancer and choreographer Alberto 'Beto' Perez in Colombia during the 1990s. It has become very popular in the UK as a way of having fun while exercising.
