Teenage Norfolk singer Ronan Parke has performed to an estimated audience of 700m people on a New Year's Eve show in China.

The 14-year-old, from Poringland, near Norwich, who made his name on ITV's Britain's Got Talent in 2011, sang 'Feeling Good' at the CCTV New Year's Gala, which is the television show with the largest audience in the world.

The show features various acts, such as drama, dance, music, and comedy, and was held at the Olympic Stadium in Beijing on New Year's Eve in front of about 60,000 people.

Afterwards, Ronan posted on Twitter: 'Happy new year from here in Beijing. It's been a crazy year and this year brings more surprises, hard work and excitement. Can't wait.'

The teenager is in China with his mother Maggie and singing teacher Kay Webber, from Open in Norwich.

Ronan sang a duet live on CCTV with his mother before the show, and told the audience: 'This is the first time I've been in China and I'm really excited about the event.'

He also sang a version of 'Summertime' live on TV and thanked his mother for being there for him.

'She's been on the whole journey with me,' he said.

Ronan's father Trevor Parke said from the family home that he was due to pick up his son from Heathrow Airport tomorrow.

He added: 'I watched Ronan and Maggie on digital TV. He was really good and it was a very soulful performance.'

The teenager came runner-up in the fifth series of Britain's Got Talent, despite being the bookies' favourite to win.
