Staff at a Norwich hardware store gave customers a surprise when they downed tools to start dancing.

B&Q staff at the south Norwich store, off Hall Road, took part in a 'flash mob' dance at 11.30am on Saturday, at the same time their colleagues all over the country were supposed to be doing the same.

It was hoped that the simultaneous dancing by staff all over the country would be an attempt at a world record, although it is not yet known whether that was achieved or not.

Carl Butler, service manager at the Hall Road store, said it was a good bit of fun for his staff. He added: 'Our customers were a little bit bemused, I think.

'We had practised a couple of times, but just put the music on and went for it. The girls were very good, but I have two left feet so was kind of doing my own thing.

'Most of the staff didn't want to do it because they didn't want to look silly, but once we got going I think we all actually quite enjoyed it.'
