Students are sprinting through PE lessons after being given brand new racing bikes.
Cobholm Primary School has purchased 15 static bikes, which can also be taken off their stands and used on the playground, as part of an ongoing investment in the Olympic legacy.
The bikes arrived this week on and are already being used during lessons, at lunchtime and after school.
At the same time, Cobholm students are stretching their muscles at St George's Primary School's pop-up mini gym which is visiting the school for two weeks as part of its tour around the region.
Sharon McClellan, parent liaison worker at the school, said the pupils, aged eight to 11, love the racing bikes. After school on Wednesday, 75 children came along to use the bikes, visit the gym and to take part in playground games.
'We had £5,500 from a Government grant and the bikes are ours to keep and use,' she said. 'They are brilliant for getting the kids fit and building up their stamina.
'We've also bought a curling set and hope to get archery equipment soon. These aren't sports that children usually get to try.'
The bikes were provided by Pedal Revolution and the curling set was purchased by PE teacher Ann Cottingham using cash from the school's parent fund.
