An inquest has opened into the death of a Swaffham man who was the victim of a car crash on the A47 at Scarning, near Dereham.

Norfolk Coroner's Office has named the victim as 69-year-old Robert Liggett of Mill Farm Nurseries in Swaffham.

The inquest was opened in Norwich and adjourned until April 23, 2018.

Mr Liggett died on Saturday, September 30 when his car, a blue Vauxhall Vectra, was involved in an accident on the Norwich-bound carriageway near the Draytonhall Lane junction and Cattle Arch Farm at around 7.50pm.

Police said he sadly died at the scene.

Two other cars were also involved but the occupants were not seriously injured.

The road was closed until 5am on Sunday, October 1.

Police are investigating the crash and anyone with information should contact the Serious Collisions Investigation Team at Wymondham on 101.
