The 31-year-old pair, who follow a vegan and whole food plant based (WFPB) diet, are opening up their home on Colney Lane from Christmas Eve to Boxing Day for those who may be otherwise alone over the festive period.

'We understand how difficult the time of year can be and so we are hosting an open vegan Christmas to spend some more time in an all vegan household this Christmas,' Emily said.

She added 'We know some our friends feel very lonely this time of year and being in a larger new house, we wanted to open our home to those who would like to come.'

The family decided three years ago to start having Christmas lunch on their own, so they would no longer have to be surrounded by other family members consuming animal products.

'Most vegans hold dear the wish that one day their loved ones will fully embrace a nonviolent, compassionate lifestyle themselves,' said Emily.

Both sisters are committee members of the Norwich Vegans, a community group that welcomes all those interested in and living a vegan lifestyle.

'We hold monthly meet-ups, as well as larger annual events like out Christmas Market, Summer Fayre and Summer BBQ. The first group meeting was held in January 2014 and we just celebrated a very successful third Annual Christmas Market.'

During the course of the three days, a potluck style dinner will be taking place at the sisters' house, alongside the chance to eat, drink and be merry with those from the Norwich area.

Non-vegans are welcome to stop by and join in the celebrations too, although Lisa and Emily ask that only vegan friendly food is consumed within the house.

To add even more generosity, Lisa and Emily have also said anyone wishing to spend a night (or two) is more than welcome. They have a number of large empty bedrooms and are hoping to expand their vegan and healthier-living B&B, The Big V Guesthouse, in the New Year.
