Officials at RAF Mildenhall have confirmed that a serviceman, assigned to the 100th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, was killed in the accident on Wednesday morning.
The airman, who has not yet been named, was travelling in the eastbound lane near Newmarket.
An RAF Mildenhall spokesman said: “The accident is pending further investigation. Identification will be provided 48 hours after next of kin notification.”
A stretch of the Ipswich-bound A14 was closed following the 4am crash at Snailwell, near Newmarket, which saw rush-hour traffic directed through Newmarket.
