Firefighters tackled a blaze involving tonnes of burning paper and straw at a farm shop site near Diss.

A crew from Diss fire station was called to the Stuston Farm Shop site, in Old Bury Road, Stuston, just after 12.30pm on Monday following reports of a bonfire spreading to a recycling area.

However, a second engine from Diss and a retained crew from Stradbroke were requested after the fire spread to 20 tonnes of waste paper, 20 tonnes of straw and fertilizer. Farm machinery was also involved. Firefighters were at the scene for more than two hours.

Jeremy Laurie, owner of the farm shop, said the fire had not caused the closure of the business.

'It was a reasonably large fire, but it was all contained at the back and no one got hurt. It was an unfortunate mistake,' he said.
