Arsonists are thought to be behind a large straw fire which burned for nearly nine hours this morning (Thursday).

Firefighters were first called to a farm at Litcham, between Swaffham and Dereham, just after 1.20am and the blaze was finally under control at 10.30am.

An estimated 200 tonnes of straw were alight and crews from Great Massingham, Watton, Fakenham, Swaffham and Hingham were scrambled.

The farm owner worked with firefighters to create a fire block, using farm machinery to protect other crops.
