A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with head injuries after he was involved in a collision with a car this morning.
Newmarket Road and Brunswick Road were both closed following the crash involving the man, who has not been named, and the car which happened on St Stephens Road.
The casualty has been taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital with head injuries,as well as possible leg and neck injuries.
Police received reports of the crash at 7.30am today and helped put diversions in place along Ipswich Road.
A spokesman said the incident was causing 'significant' build up from the Magdalen Street flyover through Chapelfield Road and Ipswich Road.
Other roads hit by congestion included City Road, Queens Road and Cecil Road.
St Stephens Road, Newmarket Road and Brunswick Road all reopened by 9.10am.
