Update: Shipdham man in court on firearms charges

A 44-year-old man has appeared in court on firearms charges after police responded to reports of an air gun being brandished in a Norfolk village.

Gavin Barr, of Letton Road, Shipdham, was arrested by armed responses officers who were called to his home village, near Dereham, at about 9.40am yesterday.

Barr was charged with possession of an air weapon with intent to cause fear or violence, and possession of a firearm when prohibited for life.

He appeared before King's Lynn magistrates this morning, and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance, due at Norwich Crown Court on April 14.
