A special exhibition showing the work of famous royal photographer Sir Cecil Beaton starts in Norwich tomorrow as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

More than 100 photographs, including behind the scenes images of the coronation in 1953 and first glimpses of newborn members of the royal family will be on display at Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery until Sunday, September 30. The exhibition – Queen Elizabeth II by Cecil Beaton: A Diamond Jubilee Celebration' – portrays The Queen in her roles as princess, monarch and mother, and includes a number of rarely seen photographs and contact sheets. The exhibition is organised by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and features highlights from its large collection of royal portraits by the photographer, whose photographs were among the most widely published of the 20th century.

Norfolk County Council's Cabinet Member for Cultural Services Barry Stone said: 'The display will provide a wonderful opportunity for people to discover more about Cecil Beaton's role in shaping the public image of the Royal Family during the 20th century and I very much hope it will become a popular attraction...'
