The East Norfolk Transport Users Association (ENTUA) held its annual public meeting on Tuesday, with representatives from all major transport providers hearing residents' views.
On buses, First managing director Steve Wickers and network manager Iain Rankine heard from people who live in Caister, Belton and Bradwell about changes to services in their areas. There were also complaints about the number eight service sometimes using a single decker bus, rather than a double decker.
Steve Royal, operations manager at KonectBus - and newly appointed operations manager at Anglian Bus - told the meeting about changes to their services. This included the Konectbus 7 now operating between Yarmouth and the Postwick Park and Ride, Norwich. And Anglian Bus had submitted an application to the Traffic Commissioner to register an hourly service between Belton and Great Yarmouth via the old First number 7 route.
Daniel Yellop, transport co-ordinator at Norfolk County Council, said there were plans to install real-time bus information screens both at Market Gates, and at stops along Southtown Road, as well as looking into the possibility of a new bus stop near the railway station.
Praise was piled on James Reeve, from Abellio Greater Anglia, after the company was awarded the East Anglia rail franchise for the next nine years. He said the firm were looking to bring new trains to the line, and he was keen to look at improving Great Yarmouth railway station.
And one rail user applauded the service provided by Abellio, saying he had never been delayed.
On the back of Abellio winning the franchise, Yarmouth MP Brandon Lewis said: 'I've already written to Abellio to ask them to move forward with plans they outlined to me during a meeting at the House of Commons to discuss upgrading the station at Great Yarmouth.
'I'll be meeting senior management at Abellio again shortly to push hard for improvements, as the station has been neglected for too long and is not the welcome to Great Yarmouth we want our many visitors to see when they visit this beautiful part of Norfolk.'
