A motorcyclist is seriously ill in hospital after being involved in a crash with a car on the A148 Creake Road in Sculthorpe, near Fakenham, yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 2.40pm, with the crash closing the road in both directions at the junction with New Road.

The man is 38 years old and from the Fakenham area. He was riding a blue Asprilia RSV 1000cc motocycle that was in a collision with a blue Volkswagen Golf.

The motorcyclist was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn and a police spokesman has confirmed his condition this afternoon, saying: 'The rider of the motorcycle sustained serious life-threatening injuries including a broken right collar bone, a damaged right lung and internal bleeding.'

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the collision should contact PC David Cole or Sgt Paul Cross at Swaffham Roads Policing on the non-emergency 101 number.
