A man has been released on bail after being arrested following the discovery of a woman's body in the Broads.

Detectives from the joint Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team (MIT) continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman in Wroxham on Sunday, March 27.

Police were called to The Avenues shortly after 6pm and the body of a woman in her fifties was recovered from the river.

A man in his fifties was arrested in connection with the incident.

Sergent Frame from Norfolk Constabulary said: 'He has now been released on police bail.'

The death is still being treated as unexplained and a post mortem examination will be carried out in due course.

The inquiry scene was cordoned off with police tape. Throughout yesterday officers maintained a presence there.

Behind the cordon a white boat, called Janessa, bobbed up and down on the water. There was also a dinghy and shopping basket on wheels nearby, and a single bunch of flowers had been placed there.

Control room Inspector Chris Harvey said police were investigating and urged witnesses to get in touch.
