UPDATE: Man cautioned for common assault following incident on Bascule Bridge in Lowestoft

A 34-YEAR-OLD man has been cautioned for common assault following an incident on Lowestoft's Bascule Bridge in the early hours this morning (Wednesday, August 22).

Trouble flared in an incident on the town's Bascule Bridge about 2.15am.

A police spokesman said: 'Officers were contacted by a member of the public about 2.20am to reports that a man was assaulting a woman.

'We attended and a short time later a 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of common assault.'

He was subsequently taken into custody where he was interviewed by officers and he has now been given a caution for common assault.
